Peris is an affordable housing project that was proposed in Lowry Hill East. It provides homes to young adults aging out of foster care. Despite scoring high enough on a rubric to receive funding from the city’s Affordable Housing Trust Fund, the project was not recommended for funding.
Neighbors for More Neighbors volunteers turned up in support: emailing their council members, asking for more affordable housing to be funded in a particularly exclusionary neighborhood where there is almost none. The project was given a small amount of funding, with a promise from the city to secure more.
